About Allegro

Formed in 1998, Allegro Dance Theater is an regional, non-profit children's dance company and affiliate of the Performing Arts Foundation. The dance troupe, made up of local dancers ages ten to eighteen, performs throughout central Wisconsin.

Allegro is best known for its ballet bedtime stories, popular children's stories brought to the stage with dance, music and storytelling. Children are encouraged to attend the ballet in their nightclothes toting their favorite bedtime pal.

The stories are choreographed by Artistic Director Janne Jackson Dean with narration by Joseph Possley. The Wausau Symphony Orchestra performs the music under the direction of Daniel Larson who has composed the musical score for The Ugly Duckling, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, and The Beauty and the Beast. In addition, Allegro Dance Theater has performed Peter and the Wolf and Coppellia.

Allegro Dance Theater continues to expand opportunities for audiences to experience high quality dance performances at an affordable cost. Dance students benefit from participation in a touring dance company with professional-level expectations.

In addition to the public performances, Allegro is proud to bring ballet and classical music to over 6,000 children yearly through educational outreach demonstrations and daytime performances for area schools.
